Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, located in Locust Ridge Tenn. She had a family of 12 kids. The vivid imagination of her mother enabled her to escape the savage realities of daily life. Her songs were written before she was able to read or write. She bought her first guitar when she was just 8 years old and began performing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at 11 years old. That same year she made her debut album for Gold Band Records an independent small label. Her name was made for herself in the local scene while still at high school, but she always dreamed of a bigger stage. The day after she graduated in 1964 she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated presenter on television in the late '60s, was looking for a girl to sing for his program. Parton was hired in 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Her departure from the show came, nevertheless, in 1974 when her solo albums, like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene over-sold the collaborations. Parton following the breakup of their relationship with Wagoner, wrote"I'm Always Loving You and managed to make it the top spot at No. 1 for the first time in 1974.
