Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017, and quickly became the top-streamed track within 6 months. The combination of reggaeton and pop music did not just draw interest back to the genre, but also to Latin music as a whole. In 2015 there were two predominantly Spanish-speaking songs in Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. At the height of Despacito's popularity 19, 19 songs mostly in Spanish were included in the Billboard Top 100. By 2020 the number will increase to 41 tracks in this category. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 in a bilingual version. Then, various artistes collaborated with Reggaeton's biggest stars such as Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma and Medellin 2019. In 2020, several Reggaeton musicians were complaining about the direction of the genre toward the mainstream. However, a younger generation such as Rauw Alejandro was keen to keep the trend going. The musician incorporated electronic dance music as well as other styles into his music.
