Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop culture: she was the sole celebrity who crossed from country into the mainstream and then to be a pop icon worldwide. Swift is shedding her roots in the country as if it were a second-skin, showing herself to be the smartest pop singer/songwriter within her generation. She is able to take the zeitgeist of today and create her unique. Swift's talents are evident in some of the first songs she released, most notably the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on her second album Fearless released in 2008 Swift was able to discover the person she was and reach a wide audience. Fearless wound up having considerable reach not just on the U.S. where it racked the record with six platinum singles, on the strength of the Top Ten hits Love Story and You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well in the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift managed to build upon her progress by releasing Speak Now almost two year later. The singer's popularity increased over the course of her subsequent three albums: Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within the genre she was a part of. When she reduced her sound with the stripped-down releases of 2020, folklore and Evermore however, she remained in the top spot. The position was defended by re-recordings from her past catalogue as well as Midnights the synth-based chart-topper 2022 album.
